Dropping Dreads for Poverty

Tremendous Success!

UPDATE: My goal has been met! I'm still happily collecting donations for some great causes, but the dreads are GONE!

Ridiculously BIG thanks to all who've contributed!

In the name of some great causes and the pursuit of employment in South Korea, I'm going to do the unheard of — I'm cutting off my dreads.

I've had these bad boys for four magical years and instead of just lopping them off and getting drunk, I've decided to do something positive and raise money for charity. I'm now collecting pledges of $20 per dread in hopes to raise funds for the basic necessities of life: food, clean water + shelter.

Once I hit $640, the locks are gonna fly. It's the final countdown! Feel free to donate more if you like, the more money my dreads raise, the more that goes to people living in poverty.

Get out your wallet. It's go time.

Three easy ways you can STILL contribute:

  1. Donate online directly to your favourite charity.
  2. Pledge to donate to the charity of your choice and I'll take your word for it.
  3. Give me the money and I'll donate it to charity on your behalf.

1 Donate Online

The following are suggested charities, but if there's another cause you would prefer to give to, feel free. Be sure to and let me know how much you've given.

The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.

The Water Project is committed to removing obstacles to development throughout the world by providing clean, safe drinking water to those who suffer needlessly without it.

Habitat for Humanity works to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating homes.

2 Pledge to Donate

Promise now, pay later. Just and tell me how much you're willing to contribute.

3 Give Me The Money

I have setup a PayPal account to collect donations which I will then donate to the charites above for you. You will not need to create a PayPal account, just a credit card.

You can also give me the money in person, or do an email money transfer, if your bank supports it.

If you would like a tax receipt though, you'll need to use one of the direct links above.
